Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from that period of that year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 victories at 21 various events.

"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five points to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

He defended 4 early chances in a tight final set before the champion won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
